The Salvation Army needs 530 Bell ringers for this season. The Washington County Unit of The Salvation Army kicked off its Bell Ringing Campaign and started scheduling bell ringing on November 7th, 2019. This year they will have 31 ringing days, they do NOT ring on Sundays in observance of the Sabbath. The hours they ring are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on most days, so they need more volunteers to ring their two hour time slots. If for some reason you can’t give two hours to help your community by ringing the bell, you can mail check donations to The Salvation Army, Potosi WA CO TSA, P.O. Box 35, Potosi, MO 63664

This campaign will raise money for families in Washington County to be used throughout the coming year. For every dollar put in the kettles 85% of that dollar is used for medicine, deposits, medical  transportation, rent, burn outs and other emergencies, when funding is available, 10% of that dollar is used for national disasters and 5% of that dollar is used for operating cost. The Salvation Army is well known for its red kettles and friendly Bell Ringers found during the holiday season each year. Bell Ringers will be at the Potosi Walmart Monday thru Saturday at various times, Friday, November 23rd through Monday, December 24th. Please contact TSA today, to schedule your time to ring.

In 2015 the donations from community raised enough money to help with several local projects.

Two hundred vouchers were written which assisted 110 men, 181 women, 273 children total family members assisted 563.

Local Washington County service units records go back to 1996 through 2015 local donations totals have been increasing annually. The grand total for 20 years is $141,834.47. This was all done by dedicated volunteers and very generous community donations of money and time. Thank you and God Bless everyone!

Volunteer board members are always greatly needed.

Do you have just two hours a week to spend to help out the people of YOUR Washington County community?

Have you gotten help yourself and would like an opportunity to give back to The Salvation Army?

Do you have children that you would like to teach to be community minded?

Are you elderly, young, bored and always said you would do what you could to help a neighbor?

You DO NOT have to belong to The Salvation Army to ring the bell and help out your community.

The Bell Ringing will start the day after Thanksgiving and run thru Noon Christmas Eve, December 24th, 2018 at Potosi Walmart Supercenter.

The money collected is NOT used for Christmas since there are other agencies doing toys and food. The funds will be used throughout next year for medicines, deposits, medical and dental office visits, rent, burnouts and other local emergencies.
