Kingston Elementary Earns National Blue Ribbon School Award

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, recognized Kingston Elementary School as one of only 349 schools in the United States to become a 2018 “National Blue Ribbon School” on Monday, October 1st. Kingston Elementary was one of only eight schools in the state of Missouri to achieve national “Blue Ribbon” status. The 349 American schools included 300 public elementary, junior high and high schools, plus 49 private schools.

“I’m pleased to celebrate with you as your school is named a National Blue Ribbon School,” said Secretary DeVos. “We recognize and honor your important work in preparing students for for successful careers and meaningful lives. Congratulations on your students’ accomplishments and for your extraordinary commitment to to meeting their unique needs,” DeVos said. 

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Award affirms the hard work of educators, families and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging content.  On November 7-8, Kingston Elementary School Principal, Dr. Jennifer Boyster, will represent the Kingston K-14 School District as the Department of Education honors the 2018 National Blue Ribbon School winners in Washington, D.C. 

Earlier this year, the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education awarded Kingston Elementary a “Missouri Gold Star School Award” for the year 2018.

“We are thankful to be recognized for the hard work of our students, teachers, staff, families and administrators, who continue to help us improve our school district every single day,” said Dr. Boyster.  “We’re very proud to be Cougars.”
