Off To A Fast Start . . . Potosi High School Cross Country Is “Three For Three” In 2019 Season

The Potosi High School Cross Country Team is off to a fast start.

The Running Trojans had three meets in nine days and won all three Girls and Boys Varsity competitions.

First up was the North County Meet held Friday, August 30th. The Boys and Girls teams each placed 1st.

Boys’ medal winners were Brett Lynch 1st, Jaden Kanan 6th and Connor Gibson 8th. Girls’ medal winners were Kayley Heeter 1st, Cierra Lewis 2nd, Celeste Sansegraw 4th, Hallie Portell 6th, Emily Hochstatter 8th and Kaydence Gibson 9th.

Next, the teams traveled to Perryville for the St. Vincent Meet on Wednesday, September 4th.

Both the Boys and the Girls Varsity teams placed 1st.

Boys’ medal winners were Brett Lynch 1st, David Coroama 5th, Will Jarvis 12th, Andy Cain 13th and Jaden Kanan 15th. The Boys Team won on a sixth man tiebreaker with St. Vincent. Connor Gibson was our sixth man. Connor placed 18th and St. Vincent’s sixth man placed 19th so Potosi took home the 1st place trophy.

The Girls Team also won the team trophy and medal winners were Kayley Heeter 1st, Cierra Lewis 4th, Hallie Portell 7th, Celeste Sansegraw 9th and Emily Hochstatter 15th.

This past Saturday, Sept. 7th at Arcadia Valley the teams were split into JV and Varsity.

The J.V. Girls Team placed 3rd and medal winners were Kaydence Gibson 7th, Gracie Schutz 9th and Kya Gibson 14th.

The J.V. Boys Team placed 1st and medal winners were Tyson Baker 3rd, David DeClue 7th, Connor Gibson 9th, Tanner Gibson 10th and Jacob Lewis 18th.

The Varsity Girls placed 1st and medal winners were Kayley Heeter 2nd, Cierra Lewis 5th, Celeste Sansegraw 6th, Emily Hochstatter 11th and Hallie Portell 16th.

The Varsity Boys also placed 1st and medal winners were Brett Lynch 2nd, David Coroama 6th, Jaden Kanan 24th and Will Jarvis 26th.

Next up for the Running Trojans is the Forest Park Festival this Saturday, September 14th in St. Louis.
