The Department of Health and Senior Services has completed its review of all medical marijuana facility applications.

The results of this review were released online at the end of last week.

Applications designated as “Approved” have been offered a medical marijuana facility certification and have been given five days to confirm acceptance of that certification. Notifications of approval have been sent to the email addresses of the individual who created the user account in the Medical Marijuana Registry Portal, the individual listed in the application as the Primary Contact, and at least one other individual identified in the application.

Applications designated as “Denied” have not been offered a certification. Denials are issued for several reasons, including failure to meet minimum qualification, the results of an analysis for substantial common control, the results of application scoring, or application withdrawal. Notifications of application denial have been sent to the individual who created the application in the Medical Marijuana Registry Portal.

The Department of Health and Senior Services have released the lists of approved Missouri Medical Marijuana Lab Testing Facilities with a final score and ranking; Missouri Medical Marijuana Transportation Facility (to date as of 12/23/19); and the Missouri Medical Marijuana Cultivation Facilities final score and ranking.

The list of approved Missouri Medical Marijuana Lab Testing Facilities with a final score and ranking included 17 applications with 10 approvals and 7 denials. Those approved included locations in Springfield, Herculaneum, Saint Louis (2), Platte City, Fayette, Chillicothe, Kingdom City, Galena and Moscow Mills. Through the point system the top application was Botannis Labs Mo. Corp. from Springfield with 1769.08 points.

The list of approved Missouri Medical Marijuana Transportation Facilities (to date as of 12/23/19) had  24 applications with 21 approvals and 3 denials. Those approved locations include Walnut Grove, Festus, Carrollton, St. Louis, Poplar Bluff, Doolittle, St. Joseph, Eureka, Riverside, Joplin, Kansas City (6), Blue Springs, Cape Girardeau, Florissant, Jackson and Truesdale.

The Missouri Medical Marijuana Cultivation Facilities license was the most sought after in the process. The D.H.S.S. website has a pdf file that has 20 pages of applicants with some  580 listed and just 60 approved. The 24th name approved on the list is Bluebird Botanical, Ltd. with an address of Lot 15 Highway CC, Blackwell, Mo. 63626. The application was approved with 1529.00 points and the top application receiving 1584.20 points. Three applications from Washington County were made and all were denied.

With the announcements, one growing applicant has already retained a lawyer to file suit against the process through the State of Missouri in Cole County. The suit seeks a temporary restraining order and permanent injunction.

There is much left to learn about this new process that is in its infancy in the State. Most think that this will open the door for future recreational use in Missouri. Time and voters will tell - stay tuned.
