Rush Summers of Sullivan, husband of Dora Harmon Summers, and son of the late John Frank and Mary Harmon Summers, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 1, 1970 in his 63rd year.
Mr. Summers was born October 11, 1906 at Anthonies Mill, Mo. where he spent his childhood. He came to the Sullivan area in 1936 where for the greater part he has lived since. On November 10, 1929 he was married to Dora Harmon and to this marriage two sons were born.
During his working years, he carried mail, worked at Farmers Exchange, Midwest Footwear, and the last nine years at the Eaton Funeral Home. He was on the Board of Directors of the Sullivan Saddle Club, and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving besides his wife Dora: two sons, Keily of Springfield, Missouri and Kenneth of Florissant, Missouri; one brother, Ruben Summers of Cuba, Missouri; one sister, Myra Bouse of Bourbon, Missouri; nine grandchildren, nephew, nieces, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Headlee and one sister, Oma Eye.
Mr. Summers was in state at The Eaton Funeral Home. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, March 4, 1970 from the First Baptist Church with Rev. L.H. Owens officiating, I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery.
