Washington Co. 4H & FFA Steer Weigh In Held

The youth of the Washington 4H and the local FFA Chapters weighed in 52 steers on Saturday, March 6th, 2021. The youth have begun their project steers for the livestock program and sale at the Annual County Fair in August.

Several animals were nose printed for possibly going on to the Missouri State Fair this year.

Jim Reed, Washington County Farm Bureau President, said, “There were a lot of nice cattle presented by the youth. It looks like it will be another good year for 4H and FFA programs with livestock.”

The youth learn about livestock, the business of agriculture, working with animals and working with people. The programs are open to interested youngsters of school age with several chapters and clubs representing both Future Farmers of America and 4H throughout the local area. Great programs for all ages!
