City to Celebrate Halloween Saturday, Oct. 30th, 2021 Traditional ‘Trick or Treat’
The City of Potosi has set the community celebration for Trick or Treaters this year to be Saturday, Oct. 30th, 2021 to mark Halloween.
With the actual date on Sunday, the City is encouraging youngsters to put on their costumes and visit only those who have porch lights on and are welcoming Trick or Treaters on Saturday evening.
City Police Chief Mike Gum said, “With the Sunday date, the feeling was that people could take their time on Saturday and not be rushed, hopefully safer, and more fun for the kids. The times we’re promoting are from 5 to 8 p.m. and we hope children will of course stay in groups, have flashlights and adult supervision.”
Chief Gum went on, “We’ll have extra patrols out on the weekend and we just want everyone to have fun and be careful. If residents want to have children visit their door, turn on the porch light. We know people are concerned about health and safety as well and we just want everyone to be respectful of others.”
The ‘Spookfest’ is being done as a drive-through this year, one stop for treats, set up at the Red Wing parking lot on Saturday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. as well. Area businesses, professionals and individuals have donated treats and funds for candy that are being put together by the County Clerk’s Office for the children to pick up on Saturday, Oct. 30th, 2021.
