SENATOR BLUNT TOURED PURCELL TIRE IN POTOSI – The Staff at Purcell Tire & Rubber Company welcomed Senator Roy Blunt on Thursday, Oct. 14th, 2021 at the Potosi Headquarters and Retread Plant. United States Senator Roy Blunt visited Purcell Tire Corporate Headquarters and Retread Plant on Hall Street in Potosi on Thursday, Oct. 14th, 2021. Bob and Juanita Purcell welcomed Senator Blunt with a tour of the plant and a brief visit in the company’s board room.

Senator Blunt got to see the retread plant in operation and visited with staff as the different processes for tire repair were explained.

Bob Purcell gave a brief history of Purcell Tire and the tire industry for the group. He also told the story of how he and Juanita met some 66 years ago to the delight of those in attendance.

Dennis Flynn and Roger Lucas gave the Senator a step by step tour through the plant with Mike Jacobsen explaining recap procedures.

The group discussed several topics in the company board room including trying to get ‘back to business’ after the pandemic, the challenges of finding employees in the current work environment and mandated vaccinations for businesses. Senator Blunt talked about the challenges in Washington, D.C. and how they translate to here at home in Missouri.

While the group was together, Bob and Juanita Purcell introduced Sam Rhodes, President of the Washington County Airport Board. Rhodes has been campaigning for funds and assistance to improve the airport and lengthen the runway for planes like the ones both Purcell Tire and Red Wing Shoe fly for business.

Bob and Juanita thanked the Senator for the visit and his service in D.C.
