Conducted at Hopewell

Funeral services for Mrs. Winifred Gertrude Smalley, 71 years old, were conducted last Thursday, March 17, at the Hopewell Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Smalley died at her home near Potosi on March 15.

She was the daughter of the late Andrew Milton and Martha Elizabeth Cunningham, and was born April 28, 1888, in Lincoln County, Mo. On October 16, 1907, she was united in marriage to Basiel I. Smalley, who preceded her in death on October 24, 1959.

To this union were born seven children -- four sons and three daughters. Two sons and two daughters preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons -- Victor Smalley of Bel-Ridge, St. Louis County, and Ellsworth Smalley at home and one daughter, Mrs. Ivan Evens, of Bel-Ridge.

Other survivors include six grand children - Iva Jean, Cecil and Marilyn Evens and Victor Wayne, Sharon and Richard Smalley; one brother, William Cunningham, of Hawk Point, Mo. and one sister, Ruth Compton, of Peoria, Ill.

Mr. Smalley was converted at the age of sixteen and became a member of Ashbury Chapel Methodist Church of Lincoln County. She later became a member of the Hopewell Assembly of God Church.

Services were conducted at the Hopewell Church, under the direction of Jenkins Funeral Home. Burial was in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
