James “Jim” Richard Robinson
James “Jim” Richard Robinson, 77, of Wellsville, passed away on November 17, 2021 at the Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville.
Jim was born December 30, 1945 and was the second son of the late John McClure and Velma Jane (Nicholson) Robinson, Sr. of Caledonia route. Jim graduated from Valley R-6 High School, Class of 1961. After graduation, Jim attended Southeast Missouri State University, majoring in history. Jim was drafted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam as a helicopter mechanic and as a door gunner and crew chief on the helicopter. He suffered for many years from cancer and illness attributed to exposure to Agent Orange in his service to our country.
After his military service, he worked for many years at the Missouri Department of Conservation as a game warden and conservation agent; he later worked for Emerson Electric on St. Louis before retiring.
Jim was a 54 year member of Caledonia’s Tyro Lodge No. 12 A.F. & A.M. Jim was a charter officer and member of the original Tyro DeMolay chapter in 1961 and became a Master Mason of the Lodge on October 28, 1967. He received his 50 year pin on October 28, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents and survived by a daughter Stacey L. (Robinson) Remley (husband John F.) of O’Fallon, MO, a son Jeremy R. Robinson of Chicago, Ill., two grandchildren John F. Remley, VI and Susanne C. Remley of St. Louis.; three brothers, John (Mac) Robinson, Jr. (Thelma) of Caledonia, Paul W. Robinson (Rosemary) of Tebbetts, and Daniel T. Robinson (Patty) of Caledonia; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Jim donated his body to the University of Missouri School of Medicine for cancer research. No immediate services are planned. There will be a private committal at a future date.
All arrangements were handled through Myers Funeral Home, Wellsville.
