James Tilden Porter
Jim Porter, 69, of Irondale, passed away January 25, 2022, at Parkland Health Center in Farmington. He was born a Democrat on March 7, 1952, in Ironton, to the late James Luke and Lorene Ellen (Cauley) Porter. Jim was a member of the Masonic Lodge #598 in Leadwood and was of Baptist faith. He had several accomplishments, such as working for Doe Run Company, longtime owner of KYRO Radio, founding director of Washington County 911 and Pike County 911, founding member of Irondale Fire Protection District, and served as Irondale Mayor for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Scott Porter; in-laws, Howard and Marlene Barbee; and brother in-law, Dennis Forinash.
Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debbie (Barbee) Porter; children, Jeremy Porter and husband Kembly Archaga, Lindsay Jackson and husband Matthew, Brandi Shibley and husband Alex. Jim treated his sons in-law as they were his own. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Addyson, Lauren, Reece and one honorary granddaughter, Brianna; siblings, Carla Forinash and Donna Barnhouse; brothers in-law, Lindell (Theresa) Barbee, Randy Barbee and wife Stacey; sister in-law, Karen Teal and husband Jeff; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends, Glenn Jarvis, Tommy White, Ed Howe and his special fur baby, Jip.
Visitation was held at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Thursday, January 27th from 4 until 8 P.M. with a Masonic service starting at 7 PM. The visitation resumed, Friday, January 28th at 10 A.M. until service at noon. Brother Bruce Torrence was the officiant. Interment followed at Big River Cemetery in Irondale. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Shriners Hospitals for Children or West St. Francois County R-4 Scott Porter Memorial Scholarship Fund.
