Melvin Haffer

Melvin Kenneth Haffer Sr. of Berryman was born on September 7, 1930 in Steelville, a son to the late George A. Haffer and Edy Arbell (Coffman) Haffer. Melvin passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022, having reached the age of ninety-one years, five months, and twelve days.
Those who remain to cherish his memory include his children, Linda (Joe) Nettles, Kenny (Tammy) Haffer, Dennis (Kris) Haffer, Denise (Ryan) Harbison; grandchildren, Joe Nettles III, Sandy (Danny) Conway, Daryn (Maddison) Haffer, Daysha (Josh) Juergens, Jim Forrester, Devon Harbison, Eli Shifflett; great-grandchildren, Kourtney Conway, Alyssa Forrester, Blair Nettles, Kaylee Nettles, Kenneth James Shifflett, Adelaide Juergens; siblings, Barbara (Gary) Couch, Delores Siders, and Mary (Marvin) Dicus. Melvin is also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Dolly (Harmon) Haffer; siblings, Eddie Haffer, George "Sonny" Haffer; infant siblings, Wilma and Hazel; great granddaughter, Alexis Forrester; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ottis and Mae Harmon. Melvin was also preceded in death by many other dear relatives.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 22nd from 5 to 8 p.m. and continued on Wednesday, February 23rd from 12 to 2 p.m. at DeClue Funeral Home.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 23rd at 2 p.m. in the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Pastor Danny Adams officiating. Interment followed at Haffer Cemetery in Steelville with full military honors presented by the United States Army and VFW Post 5608.
DeClue Funeral Home was honored to have served and ministered to the family and friends of Melvin.
