Roger LaChance, Matt Eaton and John Higginbotham were live on social media this past Sunday, March 20th talking about the Potosi Fire Protection District’s tax levy proposition that appears on the April 5th Ballot. The Potosi Fire District has been operating on the same levy that they started with in 1973. The Department is asking for help from the people in the District through a 10¢ levy that will add 10¢ each year for five years. Roger LaChance is the Fire Chief and lone paid employee for the Fire District at this time. When they started in 1973, they had 3 full time employees that covered a 24 hour day. The equipment cost and repairs have all gone up as their equipment gets older and they have held the line with fixes, repairs and keeping personnel cost to a minimum. The Board invites the public to stop by House #1 on Jefferson Street and see the set-up, look at the equipment, and check out their financial statements, income, costs and expenses.
