A MURPHY BUILDING

Last week, during the middle of our forecast storm, the new Murphy Convenience Store building was delivered to the parking lot of Walmart on Highway 21 South, Potosi. The building is a pre-fab that was built in two pieces and trucked here from Georgia. The truckers with the trucking company said that was their full time job and the Frey-Moss Company in Georgia kept them on the go year ‘round. A crane was brought in to set the two pieces on Thursday, April 14th. The weather did cooperate and the first part of the building was in place just after lunch or so. The building was trucked down the highway with escorts for ‘wide load’ and the drivers said the biggest challenge was the wind. The building itself was interesting as it already contained counters, racks and even the cup dispensers for fountain drinks. One of the construction workers said they were hoping to be up and running again in six weeks or so, depending on the weather.
