Jackie W. Mitchell

Jackie W. Mitchell, 88, of DeSoto died May 3, 2022 in Chesterfield.
He was born December 22, 1933 in St. John, son of the late Chancel Mitchell and Betty (Close) Mitchell.
After high school Jack joined the U.S. Navy, were he served for 2 1/2 yrs.
Jackie worked as a heavy equipment operator for Local 513 Operating Engineers.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 131 of Potosi, Amvets Post 48 DeSoto and Desoto Elks #689.
He spent countless hours volunteering serving food, calling bingo, working meat shoots, spending time with friends and family.
Surviving are sons, Randy (Donna) Mitchell of Jacksonville, FL; Tom (Lori) Kneip of Cadet; Roger (Debbie) Kneip of New Florence; Jeff (Pam) Bailey of DeSoto; daughter, Pam (Rich) Bartoloni of Arnold; sister, Betty (Gere) Guy of O'Fallon; 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, along with numerous loving family members and friends.
Jackie was preceded in death by his wife, Edith (Portell) Mitchell, Brother, Bob Mitchell, Sister, Shirley Hezel.
Services were held at Mahn DeSoto Chapel, May 10th at 10 a.m. with Rev. Gene Moses officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery, DeSoto.
Visitation was at Mahn Funeral Home, DeSoto on Monday, May 9th from 6 to 8 p.m.
Contributions may be made to the St. Louis Regional Chapter of the ALS Association.
Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home, DeSoto.
