Loretta Margaret (Hoette) Neier of Caledonia was born October 6, 1928 in Florissant, a daughter to the late Joseph Nicholas Hoette and Margaret (Birkemeier) Hoette. Loretta departed this life Tuesday, May 31, 2022 having reached the age of 93 years, 7 months and 25 days.

On February 14, 1953 Loretta was united in marriage to the late Robert Charles Neier and they were blessed with many wonderful and happy memories together. Robert preceded Loretta in death on August 24, 1979.

Those left to cherish the loving memories of Loretta are her sons, Jeff Neier and wife Vikkie of Caledonia, Stephen Neier and wife Jane of Union, Robert Neier and wife Cathy of Belgrade; daughter, Nancy Johnston and husband Barry of Union; 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear and special friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Loretta was preceded in death by her sons, Daniel Neier, Joseph Neier; daughter, Karen Basden; brothers, Harry, Norbert, Lawrence, Lambert, Leonard, Alphonse “Al Hoette; sisters, Teresa Meyer, Marcella Vahl, Rita Debrecht and Alvira Ritter.

Loretta had a heart of gold and frequently called her friends and family to check on them. Every Wednesday, Loretta and her friends would have lunch at Russel’s Café in Caledonia and return on Friday morning to have breakfast. She was a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church and helped with many church activities and fundraisers. She brought joy wherever she went. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a genuine friend. Her loving and caring heart will be greatly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation for Loretta was held Friday, June 3rd from 4 to 8 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi. Visitation resumed Saturday, June 4th from 8:30 to 10:45 A.M. at Moore Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 4th at 11 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church in Potosi with Father Rodger Fleming officiating.

Burial and final prayers took place at Calvary Cemetery in Potosi. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Neier, Andrew Neier, Brandon Johnston, Rob Basden, Ryan Basden and Rory Basden. All services were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
