Chicken Soup For The Soul Local Authors To Hold Book Signing

November 06, 2020

Two local authors are featured in the newest Chicken Soup for the Soul book, Christmas Is in the Air: 101 Stories about the Most Wonderful Time of the Year. First-time published authors Donna Womack of Farmington and Stacey Sisk of Potosi are celebrating with a book signing on Saturday, November 14 from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M. at Aesop’s Treasury in The Factory. Books will be available for purchase.

Womack, a library media specialist at Washington/Franklin Elementary, wrote a story about carrying on a meaningful family tradition. Sisk’s story recounts a lesson about giving she learned as a child. She is co-owner of CS Design, an online marketing company.

Both authors attended a class through the Mineral Area College Continuing Education Program, “How to Write for Chicken Soup for the Soul,” taught by Karen Sargent. “I can’t explain how rewarding it is to help someone get published for the first time,” said Sargent, an author and retired English teacher. “When I read Donna’s story, I teared up almost immediately, and Stacey’s story is such a sweet portrayal of a childhood memory. I was certain both had a very good chance of being selected for publication.”

Millions of readers have enjoyed inspirational stories from the famous Chicken Soup for the Soulseries for more than 26 years. Chicken Soup publishes 12 books a year, each with 101 stories. Aesops’s Treasury is located at 200 W. 1st Street on the lower level in The Factory.
