POTOSI PARK PROJECT – Inclusive Playground & Splash-Pad Underway

December 15, 2022

Mayor Joe Blount has announced that the inclusive playground at the Potosi City Park is now underway and fund raising for completion of the project has begun locally.

The plans chosen by the City Council were from the Cunningham Recreation Company. The company is helping with information and promotion for the project.

The winning design offers a large variety of activities for every age and ability. The design includes towers for climbing and sliding, a rock feature, interactive games, swings, tunnels and lots more.

The new playground is being built in the City Park near where the previous installation was located. (East of the parking lot, next to the tennis and basketball courts).

The splash-pad will be adjacent to the new playground, connected by a sidewalk, along with a new full accessible restroom building and a new pavilion.

The playground and the water feature are the first two parts of a four part plan that includes the restrooms and the pavilion.

The City of Potosi now has ‘real numbers’ for the projects and has begun work on the different parts of the project.

Mayor Blount said, “I know everyone’s excited for this to get started. It’s taken some time to get the paper work, grant work and bidding process all together. We’re now ready to actually get started and make it a reality for our community and our kids.”

The City has begun some preliminary work at the City Park.

Fund raising has begun and information is available from the City of Potosi and the Washington County Partnership, located on Jefferson Street.
