Verda “Honey” Politte Gross

Verda “Honey” Politte Gross, the youngest daughter of Ben and Olie Maxwell, Verda married Bernard “Dick” Politte in 1952 they had one son, Richard S. (Lois) Politte, two grandchildren, Steven A. (Kari) and Benjamin R. Politte and two great grandchildren Andrew and Annabell Politte. Bernard “Dick” preceded Verda in death on Dec.19th, 1982.
In 1986, Verda married Willis C. Gross Jr. step-mother of Alan Gross. Willis preceded Verda in death on Dec. 2nd, 2010. Beloved siblings Nancy (Alva) Eye, Margery (Chuck) Mahler, Alice (John) Williams, Dorothy (Lee) Hudson, Jim, George, Herbert, Murphy, and Perry Maxwell.
Honey started her telephone career at Potosi Telephone Company then transferred to AT&T in St. Louis, retired as a management employee in 1985. Honey graduated from O’Fallon Technical High School. In 1950 she was voted “Miss Potosi”.
Honey enjoyed her 90 years on this earth and loved to remember the ‘old days’ of Potosi and Washington County. She enjoyed both Country and Gospel Music and playing her favorites on her organ. She loved to crochet and made many beautiful gifts that are treasured by family and friends. Honey was proud to be involved in the Republican Party, the Lions and Optimists Clubs during her years of community involvement.
Visitation for Honey will be held Thursday, Dec. 29th from 4 to 7 p.m.
Services will be held at at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road on Friday, Dec. 30th at 11 a.m. with interment to follow at Shepherd Hills Cemetery.
