Robert “Rob” Harrison Hornsey

Robert “Rob” Harrison Hornsey of Mineral Point was born October 15, 1942 in Ironton, a son to the late John R. and Esther (Russell) Hornsey. Rob departed this life Friday, December 23, 2022 having reached the age of 80 years, 2 months and 8 days.
On July 22, 1969 Rob was united in marriage to Sally (Dempsey) Hornsey and together they happily raised their children and were blessed with 53 years.
Those left to cherish the loving memories of Rob include his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Sally; daughter, Robin Hornsey Mills of Potosi; son, Shane Hornsey and fiancé Takia Williams of Mineral Point; sister, Elizabeth Peters of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Harrison Crocker and Jennifer Zawacki, Johnathan Hornsey, Sarah Hornsey and Hayden Gaston and Jade Williams; niece, Amy Boyles and husband Larry, great niece, Nicolette Boyles; brothers and sisters-in-law, Herb and Linda Dempsey, Bob and Janie Dickerson, Maudena Dempsey in addition to many other relatives and dear and special friends.
In addition to his parents, Rob was preceded in death by his sister, Amelia Rinks and husband Henry; brother, John R. Hornsey; brothers-in-law, Henry Rinks, Dennis Peters, Thomas Dempsey; son-in-law, William Mills.
Rob was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, having served from 1961-1967. During his service he was given the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and Air Force Longevity Service Award.
He was a Lifetime Member of the Potosi Elks Lodge #2218 and had served in many capacities, officer positions and was a Past Exalted Ruler.
Rob loved to socialize with people and was a staple at local car shows and the Family Steak House. He had a passion for cars and passed down his love of cars to his son and many friends. In his leisure time he enjoyed reading and being with his family. His family was his pride and joy. The memories he left behind will continue to bring warmth and comfort to those who loved him.
Visitation for Rob was held Monday, December 26th from 4 to 8 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi. Visitation resumed Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 10 A.M. at Moore Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 27th at 10 A.M. at Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Lloyd Pierce officiating. Burial with full military honors took place at Hopewell Cemetery in Mineral Point. Serving as pallbearers were Allen Maxwell, Jimmy Harbison, Shane Self, Dion Franks, Rick Hollinsworth and John Zettler.
In lieu of flowers please donate to a one time Technical Scholarship to be given by the family. Donations may be made to the family or to Moore Funeral Home.
All services were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
