Marlon Ray Smith of Blackwell, was born January 12, 1949 in Double Springs, Alabama, a son to the late Willard Smith and Clara (George) Smith. Marlon departed this life Wednesday, April 12, 2023 having reached the age of 74 years and 3 months.
On July 5, 2001 Marlon was united in marriage to the late Nancy (Deering) Smith and they shared 7 wonderful years together. Nancy preceded Marlon in death on June 26, 2009.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sisters, Nettie Hahn of Blackwell, Oneta Miller of Blackwell, in addition to many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife Nancy, Marlon was preceded in death by his brothers, Benny Smith and Melvin Smith.
Marlon had a giving heart and always took time to help others in need. He had a passion for sports always either watching hockey, baseball or horseraces. He worked for many years as a mechanic, he owned and operated Kingston Automotive for many years and deeply enjoyed visiting with his many customers. He loved being outside whether it be cutting grass or barbequing with his family. He frequently went to auctions looking for rare items to collect. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Visitation for Marlon was held Tuesday, April 18th from 9 A.M.-11 A.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 18th at 11A.M. at Moore Funeral Home with Bro. Lloyd Pierce officiating.
Burial and final prayers took place at Horine Cemetery in Richwoods, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Dustin Jenkins, Mitchell Hahn, Kayla Jenkins, Ashley Hahn, Erica Hahn, Mike Thomure, David Esparza, and Taylor Thomure.
All services were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
