My First Vegetable Garden Seeds Delivered To Area County Students

April 20, 2023

Washington County Farm Bureau Board President Jim Reed has delivered planting seeds to elementary schools throughout the County.

The seeds were delivered in a small brown envelope to children to take home and get started to grow.

The program is called ‘My First Vegetable Garden’ and this is the fourth year for the seeds to be given to area kids.

The seeds are pumpkin - a large white seed; cucumber - a small white seed; radish - a little round seed; and sweet corn seed - a large red seed.

Instructions are included on a flyer that is donated by ‘The I-J’, seeds from Miller Feed and delivered by Washington County Farm Bureau.

Part of the program is a contest for the kids participating. They are asked to take pictures as their garden grows and send pictures to Washington County Farm Bureau at 600 West Breton Street in Potosi or a photo can be sent as a text message to 314-420-2752. Please include the student’s name, grade and school.

Happy growing and get those seeds started!

Prizes and certificates will be awarded at the end of the program.
