Jerry Lee Courtway of DeSoto was born on June 19, 1939, in Bliss, a son to the late Daily Courtway and Bertha (Coleman) Courtway. Jerry entered his heavenly home on Wednesday, April 19th, 2023, having reached the age of 83 years and 10 months.

On February 27th, 1960, Jerry was united into marriage to his loving and devoted wife Agnes (Thebeau) Courtway. Together they were blessed with 63 delightful years of marriage and built a home filled with many happy memories. In addition to his wife Agnes, Jerry leaves behind three daughters; Debbie Rush and husband Marty of Clayton; Shelly Davis and husband Randy of Potosi; Sheila Seck of Kansas City; six grandchildren, Randi Yontz and husband Stephen, Michael Seck, Claire Rush, John Rush, Geena Davis, and Matthew Seck. A sister, Janet Wilkerson and husband Randy; In-laws Jim and Judy Politte, Rose Thebeau, Grace and Don Wall, Joe and Kay Thebeau, JoAnn Thebeau, and Jean Wickerham.

In addition to his loving mother and father, Jerry is preceded in death by his brother-in-law Eddie Thebeau.
Jerry had worked for many years prior to his retirement with Union Pacific Railroad as a welder. Jerry had many hobbies and enjoyed being a pillar to his community. He enjoyed spending much of his time on the greens at the Fourché Valley Golf Course, whether it be golfing for leisure, or for many non-for-profit organizations to raise money for the communities that he so loved. Jerry was a proud member of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #689 in DeSoto, the Knights of Columbus Hall in Old Mines, and also was a proud member of the St. Joachim Catholic Church in Old Mines, and enjoyed being a part of the parish and participating in many events throughout the year. In addition to his hobbies, he enjoyed playing cards, barbecues with his family, and traveling. Above all things, Jerry loved being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to all. His presence will be missed greatly, but his loving memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to love him and know him.

Visitation for Jerry was held Sunday, April 23rd from 3 to 8 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi. Visitation resumed Monday, April 24th from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. at Moore Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 24th at 10 A.M. at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Old Mines with Fr. Tony Dattilo officiating.
Burial and final prayers took place at St. Joachim Catholic Cemetery in Old Mines. Serving as pallbearers were Randy Davis, Michael Seck, John Rush, Marty Rush, Matthew Seck and Stephen Yontz.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Backpack Program of the Potosi Elks Lodge #2218.

All services were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
