Ruth Maxine Gilliam

Ruth Maxine Gilliam of Belgrade was born on October 23, 1930 in Belgrade, a daughter of the late Calvin and Lillie (Hollingsworth) Tullock. Ruth went to her Heavenly Home on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the age of 92.

On September 4, 1948, Ruth was united in marriage to Eugene Gilliam and they were blessed to have shared 65 years of life and love together.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene ‘Gene’ Gilliam on January 22, 2014; loving daughter, Joyce Marie Vavak; and four siblings, Norma Crocker, Paul Tullock, Thomas "Buddy" Tullock, and Wilma Jean Laramore. Ruth was also preceded in passing by many dear in-laws and extended family members.

Those who remain to treasure her memory include her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Karen Gilliam; two grandchildren, Natalie Gilliam, James Vavak and wife Tonya; honorary granddaughter Meridee Ryder (husband, Kyle); three great grandchildren, Megan Corey (husband, Ryan), Adam Vavak, and Jenna Vavak; and two sisters, June Jullock and Wanda Webb (husband, Sid). Ruth also leaves behind so many other dear relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Sunday, April 23rd from 11 A.M. until the time of her funeral service at 2 P.M., held at DeClue Funeral Home, Potosi. Interment followed at Caledonia Methodist Cemetery.
