Walter “Ray” Nettles

Walter “Ray” Nettles of Potosi was born on June 18, 1944 in Washington County, a son of the late Walter William and Mildred (Warden) Nettles. Ray passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 having reached the age of seventy-six years, four months and twenty-three days.
On February 25, 1961, Ray married the love of his life, Virginia Barron and three children were born to this union. Ray and Jenny shared fifty-nine years of marriage together.
Those who remain to mourn his passing include his beloved wife, Jenny (Barron) Nettles; three children, Larry Ray Nettles and wife Terry, Sheila Ann Carrouth and husband Scott, and Alan Nettles and Kerri Robison; five grandchildren, Ryan Volner & fiancé Tabatha Price, Justin Nettles, Kyle Nettles and wife Erica, Dustin Jenkins and Kayla Boyer, and Ian Nettles. Ray is also survived by six great grandchildren, Grace, Blaine, Amelia, Andi, Parker, and Wyatt; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his father and mother, Ray was preceded in death by his grandson, Andrew Volner; sisters, Joyce Glore, Linda Nettles and Beverly Western.
Visitation was held Friday, November 13th from 5 to 8 p.m. at DeClue Funeral Home.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 14th beginning at 11 a.m. in the DeClue Memorial Chapel, officiated by Pastor Kevin Kappler.
Interment and final prayers were held at Redbud Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
