FREEDOM PARADE CELEBRATED AMERICA IN BISMARCK ON JULY 4TH –
The 4th was a hot day with some cloud cover that helped break up the heat some. Bismarck held its annual Freedom Fest Parade through downtown and Celebration at the school parking lot. The parade had good participation and featured Joe Snyder and his wife, Margaret, as the Parade Grand Marshall. That’s Joe to the left, and everyone could tell he was excited. Actually, when questioned, Joe said, “I walk in this parade every year, and I’m proud to do so. They’ve asked me to be the Marshall before, but I’ve always told them ‘no’. This year I gave in, and then they told me I had to ride. Oh well, I’ve done it now.” Joe made his way through the parade and then came back to the school flag pole to do the flag raising ceremony for the Festival. There were several Veterans on hand as well as the general public. There were several vendors set up along the parking lot with food trucks, crafts, novelties and school fund raising projects. The evening ended early as a storm blew up and interrupted plans for the fireworks display for the community.
