Potosi 2023 Senior Graduate Earns Rooted Undergraduate Scholarship

July 19, 2023

Potosi High School Class of 2023 graduate Zane West has been awarded a rootEd Undergraduate Scholarship.  The rootEd Undergraduate Scholarship is a renewable scholarship awarded to graduates of eligible high schools in Missouri and Idaho. It is an award of up to $12,000 per academic year and is renewable through graduation or a maximum of 10 semesters, provided the student continues to meet eligibility and selection criteria. For more information on this and other scholarships visit www.sfstl.org.

Potosi High School became an eligible high school during the 2022-2023 school year through a grant.  In October of 2021 The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), in partnership with philanthropic organization rootEd Alliance, launched a statewide initiative to ensure high school students, particularly those in rural communities, have an advisor exclusively focused on helping them achieve success following graduation. The program, called the Missouri Postsecondary Advising Initiative, places trained advisors into rural high schools, alongside school counselors, to provide students individualized college and career support. RootEd Advisors work in districts directly with each senior to ensure they have a postsecondary and financial plan that will help them achieve future success.  Potosi High School’s current advisor is Angela Schlosser, a Potosi High School retired counselor & principal.  Mrs. Schlosser will continue this position in the 2023-2024 school year and looks forward to working with the Class of 2024 as they pursue their postsecondary goals.

Congratulations Zane West!
