Barbara Ann Sampson

Barbara Ann Sampson of Richwoods was born on August 18, 1946 in St. Louis, to Jesse Dean and Elsie (Wallace) Dean. Barb passed away in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the age of 78. On September 29, 1983, Barb was united in marriage to Jimmie Sampson and they shared 41 years together.
Barb is survived by her loving husband, Jim Sampson; four children; as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Elsie Dean; and nine siblings, Emma Skiles, Dessie Ammilio, Bill Joe Dean, Charles Dean, Truman Dean, Wanda Mayberry, Dulice Dean, Jess Dean, and Clara Bell Boyer.
Barb was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church of Richwoods. She worked for many years in various nursing homes as a nurse’s aide. Barb truly enjoyed caring for the residents in the nursing homes. In addition, Barb loved shopping at Walmart. She could spend hours there. In years past, Barb enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved caring for animals of all sorts. She also volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Society store in Richwoods.
Visitation was at St. Stephen Catholic Church of Richwoods on Friday, September 27th from 10 a.m. until the time of her funeral at 11 a.m. Father Bob Knight officiated. Interment and final prayers were held in the St. Stephen Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care of DeClue Funeral Home, Potosi.
