Elizabeth “Betty” Osia

Elizabeth "Betty" Osia, a beloved member of her community, peacefully passed away on September 22 2024, at the age of 97. She was born July 21, 1927, in Tiff, a daughter to the late Joseph Anastia DeGonia and Elizabeth Maude (Courtway) DeGonia. Betty lived a life full of love, dedication, and compassion, touching the lives of many throughout her journey.
For many years, Betty worked as a waitress at a restaurant near Arsenal and Grand in St. Louis. She also worked at International Shoe Company and a record pressing company. On April 24, 1948 Betty was united in marriage to Carl Osia and together they happily raised their children and started a business, Carl's 66 Service. She loved the business and greeted all customers with a smile and made them feel at home. After Carl's passing Betty and her son Mike took over the business until her retirement in 2017. 
Betty was married to Carl Osia for 40 cherished years until his passing in 1988. Together they built a family filled with laughter and support. She is survived by her four daughters, Beverly Osia of Saint Louis, Mary Osia of Pevely, Madonna "Rayna" Kay Osia of Cadet, and Dawn "Shelley” Coffman and her husband Ron of Ballwin. She also leaves behind three sons, William "Bill" J. Osia and his wife Barb of Cadet, Kenneth Osia of Saint Louis, and Mark Osia and his wife Pat of Saint Louis. Betty's legacy continues through her nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren who carry on her spirit and values.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Osia; children, Karleen, Michael, and Robert Osia; siblings, Joseph DeGonia, James DeGonia, Claire French, Clarice Koch, and Edwin DeGonia, all of whom she cherished deeply.
Visitation for Betty was held Sunday, September 29th from 3 to 8 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi. Visitation resumed Monday, September 30th from 9 to 10 A.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi. 
Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiff with Father Tony Dattilo officiating. 
Burial and final prayers took place at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Old Mines. Serving as pallbearers were William “Bill” Osia, Ken Osia, Mark Osia, Tim Osia, Karl Gokenbach, Jon Scorfina, Blake Coffman, and Logan Coffman. 
All services were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
