Bess Williams

Mr. Bess Williams, of the Caledonia vicinity, passed away at Parkside Towers in St. Louis on Sunday morning, March 15 at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 22 days.

Mr. Williams was born May 23, 1891 in Syria and had been a farmer most of his life.

He is survived by his wife the former Stella Wetzler and the following children: Effie (Mrs. Paul Civey) Caledonia; Elizabeth (Mrs. Joseph Ross) St. Charles; Zada (Mrs. Leslie Gordon) Flat River; Freda (Mrs. James Otto) and Betty (Mrs. James Evans) both of St. Louis; Ruth (Mrs. James Hockinghomer) Caledonia; Kathryn (Mrs. Gene Snodgrass) Columbia; Emmett Williams, Caledonia; Bess Williams, Jr., Arnold, Mo.; and Franklin Williams, Caledonia.

The body was in state at White Funeral Chapel in Ironton until Wednesday, March 18th when funeral services were conducted at the Caledonia Methodist Church. Rev. J. Wesley Thomas officiated at the 2 p.m. services and interment was in the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of White Funeral Home, Ironton.

Pallbearers for Mr. Williams were six of his grandsons.
