Reverend Thomas (Tommy) Roy Slovensky, Jr.

Reverend Thomas (Tommy) Roy Slovensky, Jr., passed from death into eternal life on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the age of 61 years, 1 month and 17 days.
He was born on November 18, 1963, to Reverend Thomas Slovensky and Donna Slovensky (née Boulch) of Steelville.

In high school, Tommy loved playing baritone saxophone in the jazz band. He graduated from Viburnum High School in 1982. The following year, he enlisted in the Army National Guard as a light wheel vehicle mechanic with the combat engineer unit in Salem. Later, he transferred to St. Clair, serving as a military policeman until he was honorably discharged in 1998. He also served on the Sullivan volunteer fire department district from 1991-1998 and during that time served as Chaplain of the firehouse.
Tommy married his best friend and the love of his life, Regina, on May 26, 1984.
At the age of 33, Tommy accepted the call into the preaching ministry and became a licensed minister. Heeding the call to pastor at Glory Hill Assembly of God in Potosi, he studied diligently to become a certified minister with the Assemblies of God. He and his wife Regina pastored at Glory Hill for eight years before taking the position of Associate Pastors at DeSoto First Assembly of God.
Tommy loved the outdoors, hunting, especially camping at the lake, water skiing, and fishing.

Ornery to the core, Tommy was a gifted practical joker and a belly laugher extraordinaire who brought joy and humor to all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Thomas Slovensky; grandson, Simon Andrew Slovensky; his loving grandparents; two mother-in-laws, Barbara Harper and Donna Kay Harper.

He is survived by his wife, Regina Rae Slovensky (née Harper) of Potosi; children, Andrew Slovensky of New Bloomfield and daughter-in-law, Astryd Slovensky of Jefferson City; Cyrus Slovensky and wife Nicole, Seth Slovensky and wife Casey, and Matthias Slovensky and wife April, all of Potosi;  his mother, Donna Slovensky; his sister, LaDonna and husband Donald Slovensky all of Affton; grandchildren, Alexander (Alex), Anthony (Tony), Kaitlynn, Henry, Katarina Joy, Vincent, Ezra, and Xenon Slovensky; his father-in-law, Charles (Donna Marie) Harper of Steelville and brother-in-law, Stephen Harper of Granite City, Illinois; many extended family including in-laws; aunts and uncles; nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.

Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 10th at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, Steelville.
The Funeral Service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 11th at Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Beers and Pastor Dwight Jones officiating. Memories were shared by family members. Special music of “God is With Us”, “When You are a Soldier”, “Don’t Cry for Me”, “Goodness of God”, “Home, Where I Belong” and “Blessed Assurance” was played.
The service was live streamed from the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home Facebook Page.
Committal prayer, interment and Full Military Honors by the U.S. Army followed at the Steelville Cemetery.
Honored to be casket bearers were Andrew Slovensky, Cyrus Slovensky, Seth Slovensky, Matthias Slovensky, Alex Slovensky and David Slovensky with Henry Slovensky as honorary.
The Slovensky Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville.
