Lester Moses

Lester "Red" Moses, a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away on June 24, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on May 31, 1942, in Hazel Creek. Lester exemplified a hardworking, loving spirit, dedicated not only to his family but also to his community.
On April 6, 1962, Lester was united in marriage to Virginia (Missey) Moses, with whom he shared a remarkable 62 years of love, partnership, and mutual support. Virginia was his rock and the love of his life, providing unwavering companionship throughout their journey together.
Red was known for his generosity, often sharing the fruits of his labor with those around him. An enthusiast of gardening, he took great joy in cultivating his plants and sharing the fresh produce with friends and neighbors. Fishing, visiting loved ones, and deer hunting were also cherished activities that enriched his life and strengthened his connection to nature and community.
Red’s family ties were strong. He is survived by a daughter, Connie Evans and her husband Tim of Potosi; a sister, Rosella Smith and Jerry of Sullivan; and four brothers, Losie Moses and Sharon of Boles, Arkansas, Patty Moses and Ruth of Berryman, Curt Moses and Larain of Lebanon, and Bill Moses of Shirley. Additionally, he leaves behind a grandchild, John Evans and his wife Allie, along with great-granddaughter, Scarlett, who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness.
Red was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Virginia Moses; his mother, Virgie Marie (Coffman) Moses; his father, Joseph Milton Moses; great grandson, Hayden Evans; brothers, Floyd, Chester, Rolla Moses and sister, Goldie Roberta Moses Bishop.
Red's legacy of hard work, love, and devotion to family will be fondly remembered by all who have been touched by his generous spirit. He will be dearly missed, but his impact on the hearts of those who knew him will endure.
A graveside service was held Thursday, June 26th at 11 A.M. at Bates Creek Cemetery in Potosi with Bro. Loise Moses officiating.
All services were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
