William Mont Johnston Sr.

William Mont Johnston Sr. also known by many as Bill, was born on July 25, 1940 in St. Louis, a son of the late George Washington and Alpha Gladys (Short) Johnston. Bill departed this life on Monday, January 25, 2021 at his home in Caledonia, having reached the age of 80 years and 6 months.

On October 1, 2006 Bill was united in marriage to Terri D. Choate and they shared 14 years of memories together.

Those who remain to cherish his memory include his wife, Terri Johnston; five children, Gerald (Tamara) Johnston, Steve Johnston and girlfriend Ona Janis, Justin Johnston, Jennifer (Dan) Kane, Mindy (John) Reeves; sixteen grandchildren, Jamie (Benny) Downard, Jenny Johnston and fiancé Will Allen, Brandy (Chris) Probst, Kristie (James) Faulkner, Gerid (Mary) Johnston, Josh (Autumn) Johnston, Keisha (John) Leahy, Amber Gibson, Brianna Johnston, Garrett Johnston, Haley Johnston, Bradyn Kane, Griffin Kane, Daniel Reeves, Abby Reeves, and Johnathon Reeves; eighteen great grandchildren; a sister, Omega Whitchurch and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to his father and mother, Bill was preceded in death by three children, Judy Tucker, Lisa Gibson, and William “Billy” Johnston Jr.; granddaughter, Rachel Johnston; great granddaughter, Zoey Leahy and four siblings, Gene, Winfred, Joseph and Richard Johnston.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 27th from 5 to 8 p.m. at DeClue Funeral Home, Potosi. Visitation resumed on Thursday, January 28th from 9 to 11 a.m.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 28th at 11 a.m. at the DeClue Chapel. Interment followed at Caledonia Methodist Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to DeClue Funeral Home, Potosi.
