Potosi Elks Lodge Christmas Auction Reset For Saturday, March 6th

February 12, 2021

The Potosi Elks Lodge #2218 has been working on the Annual Christmas Charity Auction that has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 6th.

The Annual Christmas Charity Auction had been planned for Saturday, Dec. 5th but was postponed due to health concerns in the area.

The Lodge is working on a table reservation plan to help promote social distancing for the rescheduled Auction. Approximately half the available tables have been reserved at this time and reservations continue to be taken by Kris Richards, 573-210-7986.

The decision to postpone last December’s Auction was not an easy one. 2020 was the 55th year for the Christmas Charity Program at the Potosi Elks Lodge.

The Annual Christmas Charity Program is always well supported by the community and the County. The program provides clothes, shoes and coats for youngsters in the County that have the need.

The Annual Christmas Charity Auction is a key piece of the successful charity benefit for Washington County youngsters. The Annual Auction offers a huge variety of donated and created items that usually bring ‘top dollar’ to benefit the children through clothing purchases.

The pandemic health concerns in December were just to much to overcome and plan a safe event for the public. Several Elks members had been affected by the virus and some were facing quarantine restrictions as the original date approached last year.

Locally, community donors continued to step up with cash donations for the Annual Charity Program. The children were still able get their clothes before Christmas. There were some changes to how shopping was done due to the pandemic.

The Potosi Elks Lodge have enjoyed and appreciated the community support for over 50 years with the program and the children of the County are the benefactors of that good will.

Donations for the rescheduled auction are being sought at this time. The Christmas Auction in March will be different, but what hasn’t been?
