From May 5, 1960 Edition... ELIGAH VANCE SERVICES CONDUCTED IN POTOSI

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, April 27, in Potosi for Eligah Vance, who died at his home at Blounttown on April 23.

Mr. Vance, who was 74 years old was the son of the late Solon and Etta Vance. He was born January 31, 1886. On May 19, 1906, he was married to Clora Johnston, and to this union ten children were born. His wife, two daughters and one son preceded him in death.

Surviving are John E. Vance, Mineral Point; Freddie Solon Vance, Cadet; Beulah (Mrs. Howard Skiles), Cadet; Ida (Mrs. Clyde Rolins), Potosi; Jessie (Mrs. Leonard Wilkerson), Mineral Point; Celia (Mrs. Murphy Mason), Cadet; and Sarah Ellen (Mrs. Herman Lawson), Mineral Point.

Also surviving are 41 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Hiram of Potosi and Joshua and William of St. Louis; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Edder and Mrs. Liza Meyers, of Potosi, and Mrs. Agnes Jarvis of St. Louis; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the Church of God in Potosi with Elder S.D. Gibson presiding. Burial was in the New Masonic Cemetery, with Sparks Funeral Home in charge.
