Samuel LeRoy O’Neail, Sr. known by all as LeRoy, was born July 3, 1941 in DeSoto, a son to the late Earnest Wilson O’Neail and Clara Emiline (Hayes) O’Neail. LeRoy departed this life Tuesday, February 16, 2021 having reached the age of 79 years, 7 months and 13 days.

On August 13, 1960, LeRoy was united in marriage to the late Anna (Pyrtle) O’Neail and they were blessed with sixty wonderful years together. Anna preceded LeRoy into Heaven on December 1, 2020.

LeRoy is survived by his sons, Billy Joe O’Neail and wife Anne of Mineral Point, Samuel LeRoy O’Neail, Jr. and wife Vickie of Salem; brothers, David O’Neail and wife Theresa of Frankclay, Daniel O’Neail of Cadet, Lloyd O’Neail and wife Candy of Bonne Terre; nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and loving wife, LeRoy was preceded in death by his son, James O’Neail; brothers, Ernest Thomas Edward “Bud” O’Neail, Robert DeWayne O’Neail, Ralph Anderson O’Neail; sisters, Ethel Amanda Marie Owens, Francis Margaret Ellen Carey, Gladys Violet Douglas and infant sister Letha Faye O’Neail.

LeRoy was a hard worker and made sure his family was taken care of. He drove a dump truck for many years and a bus for the Athena School. He loved working around his home and visiting with his family and friends. He loved to spoil his grandchildren and he cheered them on in all they did. He lived life to its fullest and loved everyone unconditionally He left an everlasting memory for those he loved and he will be deeply missed.

Visitation for LeRoy was held Friday, February 19th from 5-8 P.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 20th at 11 A.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi with Pastor Earnest O’Neail officiating.

Burial and final prayers took place at Horine Cemetery in Richwoods. Serving as pallbearers were Clif Bandy, Davey O’Neail, Everett O’Neail, Danny Burns, Mike O’Neail, and Jim Smith.

All services were under the care and direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
