County Vaccination Clinic Held Delivered Almost 600 Doses Guard Clinic Next Thurs.-Sat. For 2000 - 2nd Vaccinations

March 03, 2021

The Emergency Operations Center hosted the 2nd dose vaccination clinic for those who had gotten their 1st shots at the end of January this past Thursday and Friday, Feb. 25th & 26th, 2021.

The vaccinations were again given at the Washington County Ambulance District garage just off Highway 8 East at the Industrial Park. The staff include health care workers from the local entities involved - Health Department, Ambulance, Hospital and Health Center - as well as the Potosi City Police and volunteers from the County Courthouse.

The lines moved smoothly with a change of direction for traffic and the drivers exiting back on to Highway 8 instead of the access road. The newly built access road was to soft after warming temperature had thawed the ground.

Both days were reported with smooth operations as the teams of those involved have gotten the process down. Visitors to the clinics have been very positive about the whole experience and spoken highly of all those involved.

Many comments have included, “That is so great the way that they worked it all out.” and “Not having to even get out of our car was great!” Others have marveled at the organization of the whole set up and noted how many people it takes to get the job done for the community.

The vaccination clinic last week was the ‘County’ set up as they served approximately 600 individuals with their second dose of Moderna vaccine.

The upcoming ‘Guard’ clinic next week will deliver approximately 2000 doses to those who visited the first clinic a month ago.

Plans for that clinic are for all individuals to arrive on their same day and previous time for their 2nd dose of the Moderna vaccine.

Health care officials here want to remind everyone to have their card and please keep their same appointment. There will not be phone calls or reminders individually.

Those who want to get the vaccine should register with the Washington County Health Department and get on the list for upcoming opportunities for vaccination. A new level or ‘tier’ will begin as of March 15th, 2021 according to announcements by the Governor.

Continue to use all preventative measures as the fight continues against the pandemic - hand washing, social distancing, staying home when feeling ill.
