From the April 16, 1970 Edition... CLAUDE STEPHENS FINAL RITES HELD

Claude A. Stephens of Pine Lawn, Missouri, formerly of Belgrade and Potosi, was born on October 13, 1890, the son of the late James and Isabella (Johnson) Stephens and died at the St. Johns Mercy Hospital in St. Louis County on April 8, 1970. He was 79 years, 5 months and 20 days of age at the time of his departure.

Mr. Stephen was a Veteran of World War I and after his discharge in June, 1919, he was united in marriage to Etta Wymer, on October 5, 1919. To this union four children were born.

The surviving relatives are his wife Etta of Pine Lawn, Missouri, three sons: Glenwood, (Claude Jr.) Stephens of Charlotte, North Carolina; James Stephens of Berleley, Missouri and Harry (Pete) Stephens of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one daughter, Mary Tullock of Festus, Missouri. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Claude was the last of the Stephens family. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Tedder and Mrs. Elizabeth Ives. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, who died in Vietnam.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11, at the Don Sparks Funeral Home in Potosi with Elder Sterling Chitwood, Jr., of Ellington, Missouri officiating. Interment was in the Sunset Hills Cemetery, Potosi.
