From May 7, 1970 Edition... Gilbert Prater
Gilbert Paul Prater of Route One, Potosi was electrocuted while at work at Meramec Mining Company (Pea Ridge) early Friday morning, May 1, 1970. He was 22 years of age. Gilbert was born on October 6, 1947, the son of the late Lewis Martin Prater II and Violet Marie (Callahan) Prater.
He was united in marriage to Alice Lorence Lyones of Potosi on December 11, 1965 and to this union twin daughters were born.
Surviving relatives are his wife, Alice; twin daughters, Linda Kaye and Brenda Faye, and the following brothers and sisters: Bobby Gene Prater of Vietnam; Beverly Carol McClain, Potosi; Barbara Cheryl Price of Baldwin Park, CA; Jessie David Prater with the Marines at Camp Lejeune, NC; Donna sue Prater and Lewis Martin Prater III, both of La Puente, CA and Gary Wayne Prater and Rose Marie Prater both of Potosi; Also surviving are his grandfathers, Lewis Martin Prater I of IL and Laymon Hollinsworth of Potosi, his Father and Mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Luether (Buster) Lyones of Potosi; aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.
Services were conducted from the Grassy Hollow Baptist church on Sun., May 3, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Charles Ledbetter officiating. Interment was held on Tuesday, May 5, at 10 a.m. at the Grassy Hollow Church Cemetery with Elder A. D. Brand officiating.
Donald Sparks Funeral Home, Potosi, was in charge of all arrangements.
