From May 12, 1960 Edition... Percy Cresswell Services Conducted

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Pleasant Hill Christian Church for Mr. Percy Cresswell, well-known Washington Countian, who died at his home on Wednesday, May 4.

Percy Joseph Cresswell was born June 12, 1891, at Aptus, to Gilbert and Sarah Hudson Cresswell, and was 68 years old at the time of his death.

On January 26, 1918, he was united in marriage to Mary A. Higgin botham. Of this union was born four children: Harry, who was killed in France during World War II; Mildred Sansegraw, Sally Kay and George Cresswell, all of Potosi.

He was saved and united with Pleasant Hill Christian Church in October, 1917, and remained a faithful member until his death.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; three children; seven grandchildren; one sister, Lena Higginbotham two brothers, Gord Cresswell of Farmington and Edwin of Potosi; and other relatives and friends.

One grandson, Harry Joseph, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pleasant Hill Christian Church , with the Rev. Oscar Buxton officiating Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery in Potosi under the directions of smith Funeral Home.

Six nephews, Burt, Howard, Lee and Roy Higginbotham, and Gorg and Jim Cresswell, served as pallbearers.

Cain and Nancy Merritt, Campbell, Mo,; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Sanders and daughter Steelville; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Highly, Mr. and Mrs. Lytle George and Mrs. Laura Nicholson, Sullivan; Mrs. Nellie Rice, Barbara Daugherty and son and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Smith, Bonne Terre. Mr. and Mrs. Gord Cresswell, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nicholson, Mrs. Mary Freeman and Gib Cresswell Farmington; Mrs. Jennie Hudson, Mr. and Mrs Floyd Parkin and Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Higginbotham and Don Higginbotham, St. Louis; Mr. and Mrs. Burt Higginbotham, Robert and Les Higginbotham, Valley Park; Mr. and Mrs. Cressie Burke, Mrs. Mary Catherine Franklin and Robert Hobbs, Kansas City and Johnny Dotson, Maplewood.
