Viola Allen

Viola M. “Cricket” (Gibson) Allen of Hillsboro was born May 1st, 1925 in Crawford County, a daughter to the late Isaac and Mary Eva (Bays) Gibson. On April 10, 1954 Cricket was united in marriage to Kenneth C. Allen.
Cricket entered eternal rest on Friday, April 16th in South County.
Cricket will be missed by all who knew and loved her including nieces, nephews cousins and friends. She will be especially missed by her great niece Zoe Henry and great nephews Logan and Mason Henry.
In addition to her father and mother, Cricket was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Allen; her sister, Mary Lee Phelps; her brothers, Normal “Turk” Gibson; Elmon C. “Clarence” Martin; and Delmon J. “Buck” Martin; as well as many other dear family members.
Cricket played piano for the Four Notes Gospel Quartet as well as the Journeymen Quartet and other groups. She loved playing with her brother Turk Gibson and cousin Ken Turnbough for many years. Her joy was music and whenever family and friends joined together in her home everyone would eventually gather around the piano with their instruments while the rest would sing along.
Cricket was interred at Shoal Creek Cemetery, Steelville in a private service.
Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
