James Melvin Skiles

James Melvin Skiles also known by family and friends as “Jimmy” was born on December 21, 1955 in Potosi, a son of the late Sterling and Mary Marie (Lawson) Skiles. Jimmy passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Mercy Hospital Jefferson, having reached the age of 65 years, 4 months, and 24 days.

In addition to his father and mother, Jimmy is preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis Skiles and Arthur Skiles; sister, Carolyn (Skiles) Politte; niece Stacey Sandeberg; and best friend, Danny “Nuckles” Nesbit.

Jimmy is survived by his lifetime companion, Mary Montgomery; three children, Chris Cash, Denise Dornbach (husband, Adam), John Kilcullen; two sisters, Barbara Null (husband, Mel), Shelba Benson (husband, Lonnie); four grandchildren, Destony Kilcullen, Cierra Cash, Phillip Lucas, Quin Kilcullen; two great-grandchildren, Brentley and Jensen; In-laws, Carolyn Skiles, Norman and Jamie Nelson; and son-in-law, Tommy Cash.

Visitation was held on Monday, May 17th from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m, held at DeClue Funeral Home with Brother David Godat officiating.  Interment followed at New Diggins Cemetery.
