Gene “Pete” Woods

Gene “Pete” Woods, of Potosi was born on August 24, 1934, at Clear Creek, located near Belgrade. Pete went to his Heavenly Home and was united with his Savior on Sunday, May 9, 2021, having reached the age of 86 years, 8 months, and 16 days.
Pete was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie (Marler) Woods; father, Henry E Woods; beloved wife of 43 years, Mary Lou (Taylor) Woods; three sons, Dennis “Woody” Woods, Steven Woods, and Tracy Woods; two grandsons, Jason Woods and Kenny Joe Woods; great grandson, Bradley; son-in-law, Joe Kean; two brothers, Everette Lee “Dick” Woods and Rev. Ronnie Woods; sister, Eva Elizabeth Cantrell; brother-in-law, David Cantrell; and sister-in-law, Marie Woods.
Those who remain to cherish his memory include seven children, Carol Woods, Debbie Woods, Judy Scott, Vickie Gipson (husband, David), Stacey Woods (wife, Sheri) Denise Kean, Rev. Matt Woods (wife, Michelle); step daughter, Angie Conway (husband, Stanley); three sisters, Daisy Wilkerson, Charlotte Keith (husband, Paul), Cathy Sansoucie (husband, Edward); sister-in-law, Linda Woods; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 13th from 5 to 8 p.m. at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation resumed on Friday, May 14th from 9 until 11 a.m.
A funeral service was held on Friday, May 14th at 11 am at the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Pastor Matt Woods officiating, assisted by Minister Brook Dickinson. Full military honors were presented by the United States Army and VFW Post 6996. A flag was presented from Mr. Wood’s grandson, PFC Spencer Davis.
Interment followed at Hopewell Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care of DeClue Funeral Home.
