Featured Speaker This Sat., July 10th At Village of Caledonia Ceremony

Chris Sutton will present a ‘Living History Feature’ on Sat., July 10th at Caledonia. The History of TAPS is a presentation done by Sutton, portrayed as a soldier from 1862.

The Village of Caledonia has planned a ceremony for Saturday to begin at 10 a.m. with flag presentation followed by pledge offered by V.F.W. 6947.

Approximately 10:30 to 10:45, Chris Sutton will present a history narrative of the Civil War, the Trail of Tears and the history of the origination of TAPS.

This event is sponsored by the Caledonia Community Foundation.

Following presentations, an ice cream and cake social event will be held at approximately 12 noon in celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the State of Missouri.

The Trail of Tears will be recognized as the Cherokee traveled through the area and along what is now Webster Road in Caledonia.

This recognition is part of the ‘Highways of History’ Program.
